ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Taylor Lewis

There's a special kind of passion that comes out of growing up in the middle of nowhere, your best friends living in the barn, and coming inside after a long day covered in dirt from helping dad on the farm. Little did I know what I was doing for all those year would be something that lead me to what I would love to do today.

I spent the next few years growing my passion for agriculture through FFA, 4-H, and helping on the farm. There's no greater excitement/nerves/frustration/sense of accomplishment than working with your livestock projects all summer long to bring them to the local county fair to compete with all your friends. Whether I recieved a blue ribbon or grand champion, these experiences taught me hard work, dedication, leadership skills, and teamwork. I'm thankful for these experience and the friendships I developed over the years with those that shared the same kind of passion as me.

After high school, I received a degree in Agricultural Studies and minors in Agronomy and Agricultural Systems Technology from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. All of these experiences landed me a job with Horizon Equipment in their Integrated Solutions Department with a focus in Agronomy.

The harsh reality is that as a woman in a male-dominated industry, others may quickly jump to the conclusion that we lack knowledge, are under qualified, and do not know what happens from day to day on the farm. Through this blog I have accepted the challenge to join all the other women in Agriculture in proving those people wrong.

My hopes with this blog is to give you a source for Agronomy related issues happening in the world today and what to be on the lookout for in your fields. This blog will range in topics from pests, weeds, and diseases to planting, harvest, current issues, and everything in-between with the intention to give you a starting point to help you make the most informed decisions for your operation.

As you read this blog I would love to hear your experiences, thoughts, and concerns.

~~I am grateful for where I was raised and who I have become. Never underestimate a woman in Agriculture.~~
